Renting a Plot
Providing you live in the London Borough of Barnet and are interested in allotment gardening, anyone is eligible for a plot at Byng Road Allotments, regardless of sex, age, ability, education, ethnicity or religion.
When someone applies for an allotment, their name is added to the end of the waiting list and at the moment there may be at least a two year wait for a plot. You can apply for a plot via Barnet Allotment Federation or our email. At Byng Road Allotments, we only have 5 or 2.5 pole plots. If you would like additonal plots, please add your name to the waiting list for another plot by emailing us. However, because of our high demand, the BRAG committee are limiting tenants to a maximum of 10 poles.
There is a £20 Key Deposit that is payable before entering the Byng Road Allotments and is refunded at the end of your tenancy.
Our rent year runs from 1 April to 31 March and tenants will be sent a renewal notice before 1 April, detailing the annual amount due and methods of payment. Each year you must pay a rent for your plot together with charges for water, insurance and subscriptions.
BRAG offer a 40% discount on the rental element for senior citizens over 66 years old; or tenants receiving low income benefits.
There is an additional charge if you choose to use a hose to water your plot.
